EIS2MOD: A DRT-Based Modeling Framework for Li-Ion Cells

The correct assessment of battery states is essential to maximize pack performances while ensuring reliable and safe operation. This work introduces EIS2MOD, a novel modelling framework for Li-ion cells based on Distribution Relaxation Time (DRT). A physically Electric Circuit Model (ECM) developed starting from Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) Open Voltage (OCV) measurements. DRT applied deconvolve the electrochemical phenomena EIS. presented methodology on: i) calculation EIS, ii) analysis ECM configuration iii) parameters extraction fitting. proposed large format pouch cells, which are tested over whole State Charge (SoC) range wide temperature (-10{\deg}C 35{\deg}C). Different current profiles have been validate model, showing its high accuracy in reproducing cell behavior (e.g. RMSE terminals voltage lower than 1.50% driving cycle simulations at variable SoC). An additional advantage EIS2MOD light computational load thus offering an attractive management system implementation.
